During the one month trip in Bali and Malaysia there was no television.
So today in Thailand when I wake up I started my day by watching the news.
I take the remote control and press the button to find a good channel till I stop in one.
It’s not the news but I stop because of an Indian song ( I like Indian songs).
I look what program they are showing now.
I was very excited because that was finally the real thing, not a movie.
The show turned out to be very nice.
The singer was ok but not great, because I was comparing the great Bollywood movie singers with these local women and men.
Same goes for the show. Bollywood makes it like a dream. This was a real dance, but still, real. Not a dream.
Of course, in the movies they just show what they want. If the dancer makes a mistake, they cut and try again.
Here, it was real, and I could see the tension in their faces.
I could also see the happiness of doing it.
And they never cut it.
So, I learnt that the real world is not nice as the movies world, but to find a hint of the real spirit of India, you better go in that room, rather than in a movie theatre.
(And, by the way, a few weeks later I was in Bollywood working on a movie, but I will tell you later about this…)
