India dances

Before I went, the first thing coming to my mind when thinking about India were a man and a woman dancing and singing on many different hills with very nice dresses.
So, when I went to Kajuraho I heard somebody say they had a traditional indian dancing show.

I asked Luca to go and see it, and so we went.

I was very excited because that was finally the real thing, not a movie.
The show turned out to be very nice.
The singer was ok but not great, because I was comparing the great Bollywood movie singers with these local women and men.
Same goes for the show. Bollywood makes it like a dream. This was a real dance, but still, real. Not a dream.

Of course, in the movies they just show what they want. If the dancer makes a mistake, they cut and try again.
Here, it was real, and I could see the tension in their faces.
I could also see the happiness of doing it.

And they never cut it.

So, I learnt that the real world is not nice as the movies world, but to find a hint of the real spirit of India, you better go in that room, rather than in a movie theatre.

(And, by the way, a few weeks later I was in Bollywood working on a movie, but I will tell you later about this…)

Here is a video we made of that show!
